El viaje resulta fallido, y "El Pinto" tortura a Mateo y amenaza a su familia si no recupera su dinero, así que, en su desesperación, Mateo decide secuestrar la imagen sagrada de la Virgen de Guadalupe de la Basílica, lo que acarrea un caos espiritual en el país.
